In the ancient village of Casalino of Ligonchio (Reggio Emilia), in the heart of the National Park of Appennino Tosco-Emiliano "Ostello dei Balocchi" is born.

It is the first touristic structure in the upper mountains of Appennino able to mix the traditional mountain hospitality together with the patience and the slow walking of the donkeys. They are animals historically bound to this territory, teachers of life and precious help for inhabitants.

The Ostell offers hostpitality, sustainable tourism and activities and environmental education with the purpose of:

• promoting a different relationship between man and environment, through the donkey, which invites us, with its slow walking during the excursions and trekking to observe carefully the world around us;
• enlarging the knowledge of the territory and of its traditions though lessons and didactical outgoings.

You are surrounded by an enchanted landescape, far away from the mad city rhytms, deep in the parfumes and colours of nature, in the rich flavours of our dishes inspired to simple life, typical since centuries in the Emilia mountains.
